12:04 am: Eeyore Has A Time
I am ROFLMAO right now.... Brooding One vs Boy Kitteh ... it is a tie!

1. Boy cat fools around in teh kitchen, knocks over a container of sugar packets, freaks out, scrabbles on hardwood floor, runs to hide his shame behind the curtains in living room window.

2. Brooding Husband attempts to harass Boy Cat further by grabbing him through the curtain... but window flies open and Boy cat falls outside.

3. Rescue attempt by Brooding one - cat is retrieved from the bushes, but during heroic rescue, Brooding One steps in the remains of Halloween pumpkin composting under bushes.

4. Boy cat is upset with puffed up tail - Husband is hopping around living room with rotten pumpkin guts on foot. It is midnight. I'm glad the neighbors can't see this, or there could be law enforcement involved. Boy cat is still hissing & growling....

Who won??

It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. 11:22 am: Full Moon Circle Canceled
Important Announcement!!

The ATC Full Moon Circle scheduled for tonight in Index has been canceled due to hazardous road conditions. Everyone Please stay safe and warm!

If you are inclined to do any personal Full Moon work tonight, I would like to share the following excerpt from the Hermit's Lantern written by Rev. Paul Beyerl:

" This Full Moon has an excellent influence. It is a time to invoke blessings for all manner of benefits and goodness into your life. You are in the early stages of a Neptune transit lasting several months. Although it typically brings some uncertainty and even confusion about the direction of your life, it also opens you up to new possibilities. This will most be felt in the areas of your belief system, personal philosophy, and desire to learn and grow. Mars Days the 16th-21st may feel challenging and something you were hoping for may not turn out as you had hoped, but it is good to have this over with before the Solstice."

Many Thanks and Blessings to All -
Kathi De Anda
ATC Full Moon Ritual Coordinator

03:09 pm: Feliz Navidad....
Greetings from Merida!

Another lovely afternoon in the Yucatan! The trip so far has been delightful - arrived at Cancun on Monday night, Mi madre picked me up and we drove down the coast to Playa del Carmen (AKA the Mayan Riviera) - all along the way were monstrous resorts that seemed like fortresses from the road. But we had a nice, simple little hotel room a block from the beach - with a Starbucks right across the street! (thanks, Miss Erin!)

We started off with an unusual adventure - we found an "ecopark" called Kantun-Chi and took the tour of their caverns.... not just caverns, they were large underground lakes that were linked together by small passages. They were crystal clear, and very deep, surrounded by stalagmites & stalagtites. We swam in the lakes and made our way through the passages. It was very eerie, to be swimming underground! There were only 2 other people in our little group a couple of women from Oregon. They brought their cameras in, and hopefully will email some photos to us. The Gods of the Underworld did extract an offering of blood and silver from me as passage through their realms - I lost an earring and got a small scrape on my ankle which didn't hurt much, but seemed to bleed a lot more than it should have...

Spent Wednesday morning swimming in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, then headed to Ek Balam for some time exploring the ruins. This is one of the few larger temples that people are actually allowed to climb. We got some great photos, arriving at late afternoon so the light was golden-tinted, and the tour buses had left - we were the last ones to leave the ruins, so we were able to take a private moment to pay our respects to the Gods of Ek Balam. Our legs paid the price for the climb - our thighs were sore for the next 2 days!

Yesterday, Madre & I just kicked around Merida, went to the Mercado Central - and wow - talk about sensory overload! The market is a rabbit-warren of narrow corridors that covers maybe 10 square blocks of the city - with everything under the sun for sale - the colors, sounds, and smells of the market can only be experienced - it is a cacophony of all the senses thrown together.

My cousin and her guy flew in last night, so we are going to meet up with them later this evening, in theory, And tomorrow ... the big one: Chichen Itza. No one is allowed on the temples anymore, but this is one of the largest temple complexes in Mexico, I have been to Tikal, in Guatemala ( a very long time ago, when people were still allowed on the Jaguar Temple!) where the complex is larger , but the temples themselves are not as massive. Then there is Copan, in Honduras, which is the largest one, I think.

Right now it is siesta time for everyone, so it is pretty quiet. I think that I will go hang out by the pool for a while.

BTW, it is the Feast of the Virgin of Guadelupe right now, and the Fiesta de Navidad is also in full swing... the old Catholic in me is smiling! Gotta love those dying & rising Gods!

12:23 pm: Mayan Mamacita
Oh my - where to begin?

We had a loverly (and unusual) Thanksgiving at the home of the Monkeygirl's mama.... No turkey for us - we had Dungeness Crabcakes! They were amazing. We did miss the Monkeygirl herself, though we did get the opportunity to harass her via speaker phone.

Friday was pretty mellow, we prowled around some local shops looking for a few last things we needed to perform a handfasting for a couple of women in Everett this afternoon. The altar is all packed and ready to go... we got the nervous phone call this morning - yes, we have everything we need, - yes, it is going to be beautiful ...

Then worked on setting up the final announcements for SMF auditions in various places - spread the word if you know of someone who might be interested!

So - tomorrow will be annoying, only because I have to work that one last day before I fly down to the Yucatan to visit mi Madre! Excited! I arrive in Cancun on Monday night, and we go to our hotel on Playa del Carmen (the Mayan Riviera) for a couple of days. We will drive back to Merida after that, where my Mom lives. My cousin from New Orleans will meet us there and hang out for a couple of days. Then Sunday we will go off to Chichen Itza to explore the Temples there! I will spend a couple more days with the fam, then head back home on Tuesday.

The Brooding Husband has a honey-do list and Horse & Kitty duty while I am away... check in on him for me, OK?

See y'all when I get back!!

04:07 pm: The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in
a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front
of him. When the class began , he wordlessly picked up a very large and
empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls He then
asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the
jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas
between the golf balls . He then asked the students again if the jar was
full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of
course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the
jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous '
'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and
poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space
between the sand . The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to
recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the
important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and
your favorite passions-- and if everything else was lost and only they
remained, your life would still be full.'

'The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house
and your car.'

'The sand is everything else--the small stuff . If you put the sand into
the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the
golf balls The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on
the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important
to you.'

'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with
your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to
dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and
do the laundry. Take care of the golf balls first --the things that
really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand .'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee
represented. The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked.'

'It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'
